About
Royal Life Saving Society, New Zealand (RLSSNZ) has been serving New Zealanders for over 100 years and is the leading water safety, swimming and lifesaving education organisation in Aotearoa.
RLSSNZ is dedicated to turning everyday people into everyday community lifesavers.
We achieve this through:
- Education
- Training
- Health promotion
- Aquatic risk management
- Community development
- Sport and participation
- International networks
Lifesavers are everywhere in the community. They can be teachers, students, mums, dads, fire fighters, police, plumbers, cleaners or accountants. They patrol the houses, streets, workplaces and parks of the communities in which they live. They don't always wear a uniform but they can and do save lives.
Our programmes are available to all and are well researched. They start at the level of introducing children to water teaching Swim and Survive Skills and move through the levels of ability culminating in Diploma which is the highest award presented by the Royal Life Saving Society, New Zealand and, as such, reflects the standards, aims and objectives of the Society. The Bronze Medallion is a world wide recognised award, and is valuable asset for those venturing to work overseas in any aquatic environment.
You can help
There are many ways you can become involved as a lifesaver. This can range from learning new skills which you could use to save a life, becoming a member and participating in a wide range of exciting and rewarding activities, getting a recognised qualification or you can make a donation to help us provide lifesaving information and training for young and old alike.
